  City Guide

A difficult, even bothersome city at times Venice, for those who live there and are forced to travel the town on foot. The legendary splendor of the city known as "the Serenissima" is a bit down-at-the-heel and neglected, expensive beyond all reason and nearly smothered by the crowds of tourists hopelessly in love with her charms. It's entirely understandable-- the city is simply too special, too beautiful for her own good!

Sestieri

Divided into 6 sestieri or districts: San Marco, Santa Croce, San Polo, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio and Castello, local addresses are often given as a district name followed by a number. It's very easy to lose your way so do check your with hotel staff for the best route.
