Thermal Hot Springs: Due to its volcanic origins, Italy is dotted throughout by mineral-rich hot springs. In fact there are some 400 natural hot springs with well-appointed spa facilities. Thermal baths were much loved by the ancient Etruscans, fashionable among the old Romans, appreciated during the Renaissance and a fundamental element of social and political life during the Belle Époque.
