 The treasures in Vicenza's chest are not limited to gold, jewels and silver, but include prestigious vintage wines and an unequalled culinary tradition. To do the town up right, it wouldn't do to skip sampling some of Vicenza's typical dishes- "baccalà alla vicentina" - a simple fish dish dating back to antiquity - polenta dishes, risottos, roasts, local cheeses and the province's renowned white wines.  The 19th-century Gran Caffé Garibaldi, in Piazza dei Signori is among the city's best loved meeting places.
