It's difficult to resist the temptation "to touch" in Napoli, something even encouraged by the outgoing Neopolitan character, whose hands are so skilled at any manner of artisanry. ![]() For example, there are the ties at Marinella (Riviera di Chiaia, 287, tel. 081-7644214), or those made to order from a selection of over 1000 stripes and 2000 patterns, strictly handmade by Tramontano (via Chiaia 149/E, tel. 081-414837). "Look but DO NO touch" is the message when you admire the maioliche and period porcelain at Giglio Antiquariato (via C.Poerio, 46, tel. 081-7642202). If you're not shopping for something to take home, enjoy a trip through the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (piazza Museo, tel. 081- 440166) with its stupendous collection of greco-roman pieces. In keeping with the "May Month of Monuments" beginning the last weekend in April through the first weekend in June, the city has been divided up into 7 different itineraries whereby museums and monuments can be visited during the evening as well.
