PIAZZA S. ORONZO


This lovely piazza has been watched over by patron saint St. Oronzo since 1871, although its origins as an ancient marketplace predate that considerably! Roman theatre

In the 15th century an elliptical amphitheater was built and the remains can be seen today, with the extensions and alterations added over the centuries.

the Sedile It was originally built to hold some 20,000 spectators The state seat was built in the 1592 by the Venetian Pier Mocenico, and was used for all sorts of public meetings.
During the Fascist era, in 1937 some rooms were demolished to accommodate its transformation into an INA headquarters.
