The Roman Summer

Rome is at its very best in summer. Its characteristic "vita di piazza" provides innumerable ways to enjoy the city's outdoor way of life: from the cafes of Trastevere, to the ruins of ancient Rome, to the castles under the open skies.

The Roman summer is on the way. The locals turn to life in the streets to drink in the pungent scents of summer. Bars and restaurants prompted to put their tables outside. The temptation to enjoy languid evenings with friends under the summer skies is irresistible. Lively trips into the countryside are arranged and cultural events attended. These are just a few manifestations of the season. At this time of year, it’s virtually impossible to tell the Romans from the tourists: they love doing the same things. For example, strolling through the charming streets of the ancient sections of the city, open-air suppers in the sidestreets of Trastevere or outings to the countryside near Castelli Romani.
