The great region of Campania stretches over one of the most celebrated sections of southern Italy. The chaotic city of Naples, the ruins of Pompeii, the stunning Amalfi Coast and Capri attract visitors from all over the world. Most tours of Campania do not however stray beyond these places, meaning that for the discerning travel there are plenty of interesting places left to uncover. Below four such destinations are described: Palinuro with its sea caves in far southern Campania, the beaches and buffalo (and Greek ruins) of Paestum, Sant'Agata dei Goti with its wine production, and the hiker's paradise high above the Amalfi coast. None of these places are very far from the famous locales, though in aspect and spirit one will notice some important differences, due the fact these areas don't receive a great number of foreign visitors.
