1998 Spring/Summer Menswear Collection:
Luxury and show

Discreet but daring turns
In such moments as these, in which nobody seems to know anymore what they're
supposed to do, there do exit some discreet and quite bright who are quietly
but consistently producing elegant, lively and fully charming collections.
Among these are for example the vivacious Etro, and the more Anglo-Saxon
Victor Victoria. Both are fanciful up to a point: reasonable yet exciting.
Of course, there are the others: Armani is never a disappointment and always
good, particularly the menswear lines. Byblos is wearable and pleasurable:
the materials used are the only main points of diversity: comfort and fine
appearance are required.
To express oneself, to be distinguished in intimate and personal subtleties:
The dream factory of fashions chases after these rare, elusive ever-changing
subtleties in the hope of capturing just a few for sale. "Everything
must change to be sure everything remains the same." This famous quote
is accredited to Tancredi during a conversation with the Prince of Salina.
It is an apt slogan for the world of fashion.
