Milan October '98 Fashion Shows: Curiosities

1. The final model to grace SWISH's catwalk was a gorgeous black model, decked out in only her skin -- with a a poetry texted T-shirt painted on her body!
2. Claudia Schiffer took part in the fashion parade for the last time as a model this season, showing the IL MARCHESE COCCAPANI collection. The world-famous model intendes to dedicate herself in future to the more lucrative alternatives of product endorsement and cinema.
3. The YOU YOUNG BY COVERI show featured a famous Italian starlet, Alessia Merz, basking nude in a bathtub filled with milk. The daring exhibition sparked off a fashion controversy as to
whether spicing up the shows with product-unrelated showmanship has any
place at the shows.
4. Best overall atmosphere around was at the KRIZIA show held in Via Manin 21, Milan. The music was fantastic and the entire event harmonious. High-profile visitors included Carla Sozzani, director of Vogue Italia and well-known fashion reporter Natalia Aspesi.
5. The FENDI collection was created by Karl Lagerfeld, who appeared at the end of the show flanked by Naomi Campbell and the other models.
6. Following BLUMARINE'S successful show, designer Marina Molinari received an order from none other than singer Madonna. Plans are currently underway to open shops for the popular label in NYC and Los Angeles.
