1999

The decade's most unique publicity stunt: PRADA on the high seas aboard the Luna Rossa
The fashion company's marketing strategy for 1999 was based on combining the prestigious PRADA name with the world's most famous sailing regatta. The unconventional move proved a brilliant stroke, as anyone checking on the course of the race or the performance of the Luna Rosa was greeting simultaneously with the celebrated logo.

Fashion Benefit against the Use of Children in Warfare
As is the case each year, the third edition of Moda in Galleria was associated with a global social issue. Set within the impressive context of the Galleria Principe in Naples, the evening spotlighted the Campagna Stop all'uso dei Bambini Soldato, an initiative determined to stop the use of children as soldiers. The resulting presentation was the most significant to date for this popular cause.

2000

Olympics: High fashion at the Casa Italia
An azure-blue event in Sydney: "Italy, Fashion's Driving Force". The fashion show held at the Casa Italia in Sydney featured a number of the industry's biggest names. Among others were Renato Balestra, Lorenzo Riva, Gai Mattiolo, Egon Furstenberg, Anton Giulio Grande, Fausto Sarli and Gattinoni, along with Roberta di Camerino and Aliero Martini, representing prêt a porter. Supported by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, hosted at the Casa Italia, Italian fashion enjoyed its highest moment since the 1960's.

2001

Roberto Cavalli boutique opens in Firenze
Cavalli's flagship store has sprouted up on via Tornabuoni in one of Florence's most historic quarters. It is located in the Palazzo Viviani, which for nearly a century housed the Caffè Giacosa. The designer has preserved part of the café, incorporating the original counters into his own very individual decorating scheme: tiger-striped floors and chocolates strewn everywhere (also zebra and leopard wrapped…).

The Maestro Bids Adieu
On January 7th, 2001 at 12:00 French fashion design master Yves Saint Laurent, left the world of Haute Couture. He is perhaps best known for his 1971 "40" collection, clearly inspired by the Great War, for posing nude for the ads launching his perfume "Homme" or for the name given his most famous perfume "Opium". With Yves Saint Laurent's departure, the famous Maison shut its doors. The final goodbye is scheduled for January 22, 2002, marked by a last show and a collection that promises to be both something altogether new as well as a retrospective of his masterpieces.

Astronauts with Griffes: Alviero Martini
On April12, 2001 a fashion designer outfitted a group of space men…
The astronauts launched from Cape Canaveral to join the International Space Station (ISS) were dressed in outfits by Alviero Martini. They wore ergonomic tecnocover shirts and trousers with a "geo" motif.

2002

Laura Biagiotti celebrates 30-year anniversary
Sweeping strides and soft steps swathed in airy veils and supple furs….
Milano sounds a tribute to lightness and softness as Laura Biagiotti celebrates 30 years in the fashion industry with a splendid show. The models tread a bower of rose petals dressed in delicate white cashmere and sweaters so soft they slide strategically off the shoulder.

Fifty years of Italian fashion
"Fifty years of Italian fashion" is an exhibition realized through the collaborative efforts of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and the Ministero Affari Esteri scheduled to go on a world tour, enlisting the cooperation of many major high fashion and prêt-a-porter labels.
These stars of the Made in Italy movement are to be presented by means of a graphic display illustrating development of Italian high fashion from its birth in the 50's up to the present day. A series of films are also featured, as well as a selection of historic garments. Supporting the exhibition is a fashion show providing a synthesis of the latest creations presented by major designers.

News from Casa Armani
The famous designer has come up with a brand new suit for the upcoming film 'The Tuxedo'.
