Italian Fashion - Study in talent
by Adriana Di Lello

The message has come over loud and clear. Contemporary: this was the word of the day at the most recent fashion shows in Milano. For the first time in ages, fashions presented for the coming season did not have a nostalgic, rétro touch. What came out on the runway were fresh, vital looks, audacious and yet very feminine. The new trend clings to the modern day, expressing itself in mixed fabrics and unusual cuts--it's a bright, clean move down a new road. An air of freshness is attributed to the inspired genius of a whole squadron of new designers - both Italian and imported- who have already begun their climb towards the top of the industry's Mt. Olympus. Here are profiles of five of these talented individuals and their five different ways of viewing women...

This is an Identikit profile of 5 Made in Italy stylists (including imported talent) who proved themselves at this year's Spring-Summer Milan showings to be the rightful heirs of the big name houses who have made Italian fashion into an international status symbol.
