![]() Alessandro dell'Acqua An effective compromise between research and tradition, the transplanted Neapolitan designer Alessandro Dell'Acqua's styles have already conquered the US. The prestigious magazine, Harper's Bazaar, recently dedicated a long article to the designer, praising his "hard", vaguely English styles, which are true to the look without renouncing femininity. It's not surprising therefore to learn that the designer is inspired by the sensual and somewhat haughty Silvana Mangano, one of Visconti's favorite actresses, and by Azzedine Alaïa, the celebrated French-Tunisian designer whose absolutely sexy fashions made such a splash in the 80's. Already a collaborator with the Genny group, the Gilmar group, Maska and Mariella Burani, Alessandro has been producing his own women's prêt-à-porter (produced by Belle Maille di Carpi) for several years now. He has envisioned the coming summer swathed in lots of, mixing voile with leather, rhinestones with metallic fringe.
