Moda Milano Uomo 2002
Dolce & Gabbana

Armani's concept of the down-to-Earth, real man is further illustrated by Dolce & Gabbana, who have given a firm "no" to forced pomp. Their new man is not a poser; he's mature and sick to death of costly affectations which have no place in his daily life. For the show, some 54 models between the ages of 19 and 47 (several of these ex-models) were used, some accompanied by children, bringing reality back to the catwalk. The image is that of the businessman-father, a gentleman with an easy, almost country style because he knows what he wants and what's important. Low-slung and narrow, wide-wale cords with huge pockets are combined with generous wool scarves in dark colors. A hint of extravagance remains, reflected in see-through shirts and imaginative wter-proof shoes. The colors are the dark, warm tones of winter, the colors of fields and meadows. Black was presented all by itself, this year, within its very own fashion context.
