The recent men's fashion week in Milan opened with Giorgio Armani's
unmistakable show condemnation of for crass consumerism and simple
bad taste of embodied in garments sold at dismayingly prohibitive
costs without any of the attributes to be expected from truly fine
clothing. The designer's alternative proposals target a worldly man,
in many ways a simple man, sensual and uncomplicated. The collection
takes a guideline from a clean silhouette of a uniform, with jackets
and trousers in sand, khaki green and brown. Warm and masculine, and
just enough outside the lines to drive a woman mad...
For less formal moments, there are shirts and sweaters with coordinated
gloves.
The younger collection, Emporio Armani, presents a sort of European
tradesman, with ankle-length trouser with sweaters tucked in. It's
a comfortable look and one in line with youthful disregard for established
guidelines.
