Moda Milano Uomo 2001

D&G

Dolce & Gabbana's latest line is a tribute to the world of music, recalling the in particular the flamboyant world of personalities such as Michael Jackson and Kiss.
Models are hitting the ramps in red jackets sporting gold glitter monsters, and a classic velvet suit is shown with steel-toed cowboy boots. Won't the Texans be glad to know they're fashionably dressed at last?

Alessandro Dell'Acqua

Pink is the Neapolitan designer's color of choice, from undies to overcoat, it's a rosy season. The various pink hues and shades are great paired with dark chocolate brown, gray and camel. Close attention has been paid to the accessories, with belts taken precedence over shoes in the race to rose this year, showing up with everything from skirts to wool sweaters.

Missoni

Missioni, too, has pulled out belts this season. Knitted ties and cinches are a must for men in Fall/Winter 2001. A touch of transcendental chic is evidenced by a novel mechanics' overall and a little good-natured eccentricity comes through by means of a velvet bomber jacket and a lurex mock turtle. As always, fibers and knit are the soul of the collection.

Prada

Miuccia Prada's Milano presentation has placed the urban cowboy squarely on the scene for next fall. He's that free spirit that wants a bit of Marlboro Man with a touch of luxury. Augmenting reinforced trousers are neckerchiefs made of silk, thermal undershirts of cashmere, vests made of fur and techno-stuffs. What does one wear with a wide gun belt with ammo? A rich-looking leather saddlebag.

Krizia

A cozy and comforting line, with the new millennium man in mind who starts his day under a snuggly rabbit fur coverlet.
Softness, warmth and ease are the collection's common denominator: wide cashmere sweaters, flannel trousers and biscuit colored lamb fleece-lined leather jackets.

Antonio Fusco

This designer has pulled the plug on extravagant excesses: the Fusco collection is sober and elegant, miles from any hint of ostentation.
The trenches, hats and flannel suits are a tribute to Humphrey Bogart. The line also includes fine tweed coats, plaid jackets, worn looking fleece-lined vests, cashmere mock-turtles.

Romeo Gigli

Romeo Gigli, as well, has taken a hint from the British tradition: young dandies with a collegiate aire hit the catwalk in pinstripes and Damask silk. The pieces are cut to fit, the lines accentuated by shoulder pads and tightly cinched-in waists.

Enrico Coveri

Pink is the foundation stone of the collection: from the mink jacket to the leather pants and the large-grade woolen sweaters. Nights are very black, sparked with the opalescent sequins also found on the classic gray pinstripe.

Byblos

Byblos is all aglow in neon hues. Electric green, pink and yellow lend a vitality to the year's cooler months. Many mock and turtlenecks, and fitted trousers make up the collection. Also of interest, the plaid suits.

Giorgio Armani

The one absolute must: the jacket! Snug and wrapped, maybe even a size too small -- anything to underscore a trim figure. There are no excesses here, just a masculine look that's bound to appeal to women. This fitted, non-ostentatious jacket is worn over slim-cut pants turned up into a neat cuff at the bottom; shirts are impeccable. In line with general autumn/winter trends, coats are very long, belted and double-breasted. Short jackets are made of velvet as well as of kangaroo or goat, and lined with rabbit fur.
