FLORENCE: Via dei Tornabuoni
| Leaving the Santa Maria Novella train station, go down Via della Scala.
Continuing along Via del Sole, you'll run into the Via dei Tornabuoni at
your right, just past the Tourist Information office. (The trip should take you
approximately 20 minutes on foot.) Florence's finest boutiques are concentrated along this ancient street, crowned by the trademarks of native sons Ferragamo and Gucci. Note: The letter "r" following house numbers stands for "red", the color indicating commercial addresses. House numbers on residences are written in black . It's important to keep in mind that red and black numbers run in separate sequences.
Versace's elegant boutique is located at
number 13-14r on the Via dei Tornabuoni.
A stopover at Cirri for silks and laces is obligatory! Be sure to visit the Antico Setificio Fiorentinoat via Bartolini 4r (shown by appt. Ph. 055-213861) and the marvelous woodcarvers workshop of Bartolozzi e Maioli (Via Maggio 13r) with its impressive display of antique frames and small wooden masterpieces.
Luisa a boutique in the same street at number 19-21r, carries the trend-setting fashions of designers such as Dolce & Gabbana. Number 97r houses the Pucci shop, specializing in silks, pyjamas and scarves. Krizia, its headquarters in Milano, has no shop in Florence but recommends a visit to the Radicchi boutique in Via Ungheria 22r. Pomellato, silversmith and fine jeweler, is in the Piazza Antinori No.8. Enrico Coveri's Florence store is in the Via Vigna Vecchia and Ferré's near Via Brunelleschi.
