Urban Grays: Winter 1998's New Man

Conclusions?

After this long and intense week, climatically and geographically exhausting, there is the lingering sensation of hybridization and a lot of gray -- those being the overriding themes of the Winter '98 collections. Masculine and feminine lines of demarcation smudged. The shirts which have escaped being replaced by lightweight knits or polo shirts are carefully camouflaged as jackets. And vice versa. It's a known fact that the menswear collections are less of a media event than their feminine counterparts, but the week of shows at Milano which has come to a close boasted some very entertaining moments.
Fashion has become an intention, a mental pose and, for who wish to recognize it, a rigorous production.
Fashion today is definitely a matter of intentions, of state of mind and, for those who are keen enough to recognize it, in the perfect quality of the manufactured goods.
