In 1993, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli opened
a facility to accommodate two shows each year dedicated
to
the work of contemporary artists. The facility is also supported by
a publishing staff.
The project was born of a desire to identify and transmit the "most
profound mental provocation" contained in today's art.
Keeping a finger on currents trends, the Fondazione is to present
the latest works of Marc Quinn in a exhibition scheduled to run in
Milano through June.
Marc Quinn
The
English artist is to present several new works dedicated to an artistic
exploration which transcends the physical limits of the body and nature
itself. Suspended forever between actual lifelessness and apparent
life are the "flowers" in Garden 2000.
Tone of several projects on display, this work defies the natural
cycle of life and death through the use of technology. Immersed in
25 tons of silicon oil heated to just under 20° Celsius, the cut flowers
maintain an appearance of eternal freshness, representing absolute
and timeless beauty.
