My Dear Topolino...

Topolino Belvedere

This strange two-seater with the canvas roof (rarely with a hard top), came out before the war and reappeared with success at the end of the fighting, exactly in 1947.

It was defined by Benito Mussolini as "the people's car".
Today it is regarded by hundreds of admirers and collectors. It owes its name to its shape that, thanks to its two round headlights, reminds one of a little mouse (in Italian, Topolino means little mouse).
It made its debut on the market with a price of 3,500 lire (about 2 dollars), with a motor of 495 cc's, with side valves, a maximum speed of 70 kilometers an hour, two seats in front, and a bit of space in the back.

Fiat also expanded the line with Belvedere, a station wagon -we would say today,- and Giardinetta, a utility version.
