Each year, the Salone del Mobile di Milano presents its city and countless visitors with a weeklong exploration of the latest in the world of design.

While the Salone Satellite represents the core of the decorating event, the Fuori Salone program provides a supplementary platform for big name designers to present their latest innovations imaginatively, in a more "personalized" context.

Visitors shouldn't be surprised, for example, to find themselves, sandwich in hand, at the presentation of a new Mandarina Duck handbag popped into the oven by a jolly bakery girl.
And the colorful fish swimming among the lavatories and bathtubs by Giovannoni? Nothing more than a most splendid run-of-the-mill display…
At the Cappellini stand, there's cause for pause -- though pleasant as anything, in this context there's nothing at all remarkable of sitting on a large sofa sipping spumante admiring male and female models underwater while sampling mozzarelline and tomato!
