This year's Salone included several plus points -- the Salone Complemento featuring the most common of household items, Euroluce - an international exposition of lighting fixtures and the Salone Satellite, reserved for the creative forces and imagination of young designers from Italy and around the globe.

The Salone's comprehensive presentation comprised three catagories: design, modern furnishings and classics.
In additon, four other important exhibitons were contained within the fairgrounds: iMade, the innovative new materials presented by the Italian furniture and accessories industry; Ex Eco, domestic recycling of electrical appliances; La casa del 2000, built-in elements and furnishings for new domestic environments; Concorso europeo di design per l'illuminazione, a European lighting design competition.

The backdrop was executed under the guidance of Dennis Santachiara, music under Emir Kusturica and the exhibition lay-out planned and executed by individuals such as Peter Greenaway, Yoko Ono and Eriko Horiki.
