His ideas about the home and objects are derived from a strong aesthetic concept. When he is in the planning stage of a project, he does not forget the history of craftsmanship. With a critical attitude towards consumerist society, Enzo Mari has never played to the filling of the market with short-lived objects; 80% of the objects created by Mari, are still actively listed in sales catalogues. He is always in search of languages that communicate with art. He is an eclectic designer, artist, graphic artist, writer, researcher, and art theorist. He has written many books: for children, on aesthetics, on methods of perception and projection, and on the function of art on modern society. His works of design and research, on three-dimensional space and on visual communication, are exhibited in collections and museums all over the world: at the Modern Museum of Stockholm, at the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, at the Power Institute of Fine Arts in Sydney, at the Kunstmuseum of Dusseldorf, and at the Museum fur Kunst and Gewerbe of Hamburg. Mari participated in the spectacular show "Italy - the New Domestic Landscape", in 1972 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. |
