Florence and Chianti are two names famous throughout the world.
Both are located in the central region of the Italian peninsula,
that cradle of the Renaissance and viticulture known as Tuscany! Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are perhaps the most famous wine denominations (D.O.C.G.) of the region, yet they flank a red wine production area of such quality, the wines have taken on the name of Supertuscans(reds). These are the product of an untraditional blend of grapes (primarily Sangiovese and Cabernet) normally used in the making of Chianti Classico. Aged in barrique, they have shown themselves able to compete with the grand French Bordeaux.
